Art McMellon (Owner and President of McMellon Woodcraft) is a Master Craftsman in cabinetry and remodeling. He has over 40 years' experience in designing, hand crafting, and manufacturing all types of cabinets, (this includes kitchens and baths) entertainment centers, and millwork, etc. Art has designed restaurants, commercial buildings and celebrity homes such as Vince McMahon's (WWF), Ruth Chris Steak House, Marriot Hotel in Mass., Hulk Hogan's, and so forth. He was the past president of the Kiwanis for 2 years running, member of the Jaycess, NKBA, Kitchen Bath Institute, Masons and the Chamber of Commerce. He also won awards for kitchen designs and extensive volunteer work for the Chamber of Commerce Fall Festival. Art McMellon is very active in the community helping others to achieve their goals. He even has helped many small businesses get started. He is a hands on individual and teaches others how to handcraft pieces of wood into unique designs and cabinet pieces. He is always available to help someone learn and understand the cabinet trade. 

Lorraine Skibicki (Operations Officer) went to Gateway Community College for Industrial Management. She started Closets By Design, Inc. and Closet Inc. from scratch in 1987, and was owner/operator until it was sold 20 years later. Her expertise is designing in a 32mm and modular cabinet system for home storage. She also serves as a consultant for space planning, senior citizen downsizing, and an adviser for sorting, organizing and filing bookkeeping records for commercial and residential clients. Lorraine has won many awards in the community, including:

  • Round Robin Award as Resource Chairman with the Girl Scouts
  • Best Basement Remodeling Design by the Home Builders Association
  • Volunteer Service Certificate by the Chamber of Commerce
  • Hiring the Handicap Award by the State of Connecticut

She maintains records for the many projects occurring, keeps the wood shop informed of ongoing projects, handles customer calls and complaints, and keeps track of contracts, services and proposals that are going through the system.

Nancy McMellon (Head Bookkeeper) has an extensive bookkeeping and banking background and worked at such banks as First Bank, First New Haven National, CT. National, Shawmut, and Fleet. She was the night bookkeeper  at First Bank and because of her experience was assigned to open a branch in Allentown which she ran for twenty years until they merged with Bank of America. Nancy's skills are many in the industry and she held various positions such as Teller, Head Teller, Manager, and Bank Officer. Coming out of retirement, she took the position of Head Bookkeeper for McMellon Woodcraft, where she runs the office and maintains the books.

John Wolfe (Master Craftsman in Cabinet Making) is the wood shop foreman. He graduated from Kaynor-Technical School where he specialized in wood shop. After graduating, he worked in a cabinet shop for several years where he gained the knowledge needed to become a Master Craftsman. He then opened his own business and ran it for six years designing custom and unique kitchens and bathrooms. John has a talent that is rare today in cabinet making. He has patience and creativity and is able to repair, mend, or fix any finish, scratch or problem involving wood that the customer has. John also has extensive experience in remodeling and has done many jobs in the Cheshire Community.
